KIRKWOOD, Mo. -- The Drake University women's golf team stayed near the top of the leader board at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Greenbriar Hills Country Club (Par 71, 5830 yards) on Monday (April 18). Drake (309-316-625) finished the day shooting a combined 316 and is now in third place as a team.
The Bulldogs were led by senior
Kristen Giles (76-75-151) in the second round who shot a team-low 75 and sank a team-high three birdies. Giles is now tied for fifth place, only three strokes behind the leader, Kehler Koss from Illinois State, who is sitting at 148 (+4) through two rounds and shot a (71).
Sophomore
Aayushi Sarkar (75-79-154) shot a 79 on day two and is tied for ninth in the individual standings.
Senior
Haeri Lee (79-79-158) turned in a 79 for the second day in a row putting her in a three-way tie for 17th place. Lee is one of three Bulldogs in the top-20. Senior
Sam Paulak (79-83-162) and junior
Abby Marting (83-83-166) both recorded an 83 in round two.
Illinois State leads the MVC Championship shooting 604 after 36 holes followed by Missouri State in second with 611.
The final round will tee off with split tees on Tuesday, April 19 at 9 a.m. (moved back one hour from the originally scheduled time due to potential frost).
