IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Drake University Track and Field team won in five competitions at the Iowa Musco Twilight in Iowa City on Saturday, April 23. Among those champions was freshman
Enzo Marie, freshman
Tyla Lumley, junior
Busiwa Asinga, senior
Will Tsai, and freshman
Anthony Barmes.
The freshman for both the men's and women's squads impressed as Drake took over the 3,ooo. In the men's 3k Marie dominated the competition by putting together a time of 8:38.96. Second place went to Brady Griebel from Northern Iowa, ran 8:52.54.
For the women it was Lumley who won first by a time of 9:55.97. Second place went to Iowa Hawkeye Madeline Block who ran 10:04.53.
Drake's dominant day did not end there as both the men and women teams would win in the 400 hurdles . It was sophomore
David Olowookere who ran 52.56 with fellow Bulldog finishing in third senior,
Angelo Romagna who was close behind his teammate with a time of 53.55.
Three women would finish in the top-10 in the 400 hurdles with Asinga leading the pack in first with an official time of 1:00.57. Coming in 6th place was Madison Bunting with a time of 1:03.29. Rounding out the 400H was freshman Mia Shipley who finished 9th with a 1:07.90 official time.
The javelin throw would go to the Bulldogs' own Tsai who would finish in first with an impressive 53.34m launch. Another Bulldog finished in the top-1o with sophomore
Ethan Marshall placing 6th with a 45.66m toss.
It was all Drake in the Men's hammer toss, with four Bulldogs finishing in the top-10, including three finishing in the top-3. Finishing in first place was Barns who threw for 62.91m. In second was Marshall who tossed for 61.19m and then in third was junior
Joey Harkins with a distance of 60.13m. Rounding out the hammer toss for Drake was sophomore Anthony Jentz with a throw of 53.47m finishing in 10th.
Drake's next competition will be the historic Drake Relays on April 28-30.
