FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Drake track & field student-athletes Katelyn Williams and Busiwa Asinga both competed at the NCAA Division I West Preliminary at John McDonnell Field on Thursday, May 26.
 
On her first throw, Williams registered a hammer throw of 181-3 (55.26m).
 
In the evening, Asinga just missed her season-best with a time of 59.57 in the 400m hurdles. Both Williams and Asinga did not advance to the next round.
 
Isaac Basten (men's 1500m run at 5:15 p.m.) and Aziz Jdai (men's 3000m steeplechase at 5:40 p.m.) will compete at the West Preliminary on Friday, May 27 for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 8-11.
