Des Moines, Iowa – The Drake women's tennis team hosted the 2022 edition of the Drake Invite this weekend. The Bulldogs saw a handful of solid performances including a pair of top-three place winners.
In singles, Drake sophomore
Mille Haagensen finished in third place in Flight A while senior
Rebecca Ehn finished as the runner-up in Flight B.
Haagensen's weekend started with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Melisa Becerra of Nebraska-Kearney. The Oslo, Norway native then took down Nyah Kauders 8-3 to reach the semifinals where she fell to South Dakota's Beata Havlickova. In the consolation game on Day 3, Haagensen earned a 8-4 win over Ana Paula Martinez of Creighton to finish in third place.
Ehn's run began with a victory over Margarita Chouliara of Augustana University. The Swede then took down Creighton's Malvika Shukla 8-3 to reach the Flight B finals. Ehn eventually lost to Adrijana Brkic of UNI in the championship round by a 6-3, 6-0 tally.
The Drake women will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. from Sept. 15-Sept. 18.
