COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Drake University women's golf team finished the second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The three-day tournament at the Club at Hawthorne (Par 72/6,264 yards) saw the Bulldogs better their first round team score by seven strokes. Drake (311-304-615) is currently in 13
th place.
"We had a good day today," head coach
Steve Smith said. "A few shots from having a great day."
Rylee Heryford (76-77-153),
Amber Henson (81-72-153) and
Aayushi Sarkar (74-79-153) are all tied for 38
th place after day two. Henson's second round score of 72 stands as the team's tournament low so far.
Kristen Giles (80-76-156) sank a pair of birdies including one of hole 12, on a drive that barely missed being a hole in one.
Erika Holmberg (88-79-167) showed great improvement in round two.
Lipscomb (292-288-580) moved into the lead after two rounds.
The final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Wednesday (Sept. 28).
