Julie Huggins of Drake women's golf were named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Heryford finished her senior season with scoring average of 78.50 and tallied one top-10 finish on the season at the Stampede at the Creek tying for 10th with a total score of 229 (78-75-76), which was also the first top-10 result of her career. Her lowest 54-hole score of the season came at the Lady Clerico back in September where she finished 34th at 228 (77-73-78). Her second round of 73 at the Lady Clerico was the lowest 18-hole score of her career. Heryford owns a 3.57 GPA in Management & Organizational Leadership.
Holmberg finished the season with her best result of the year, tying for seventh at the MVC Championship. The Bettendorf, Iowa native compiled a scoring average of 78.46 over 24 rounds. Her season low 54-hole score came at the West Texas Classic with a 226 (73-75-78) and she also recorded her season low 18-hole score with her opening round 73 at the West Texas Classic. Holmberg carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Secondary Education with a specification in English.
Huggins led Drake on the year with a scoring average of 76.11 and earned All-Conference honors following her top-10 performance at the MVC Championship. She was named MVC Golfer of the Week following her top-25 result (T23) in the loaded field at the PING ASU Invitational with a total score of 1-over, 217 (77-70-70). Huggins tied for fifth for her best individual finish of the season at the Stampede at the Creek firing a total score of 228 (77-75-76). She totaled one top-5 finish, two top-10 finishes, and three top-25 finishes on the season. The Anthem, Arizona native shot her career-low 18-hole score of 68 in the opening round of the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate as well. Huggins completed her undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.68 in Finance and owns a 4.00 GPA working towards her Master of Business Administration.
