The Basics
The Drake University rowing team is traveling to Iowa City, IA to compete in the Iowa Chase on Sunday, Oct. 22. The races will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude around 3:00 p.m.
Coach Charlie DiSilvestro on the Iowa Chase
"We're really excited. This is our last head race of the year, then we work on sprint racing from now on. We haven't been to this race for quite a few years. We're glad that the Hawkeye Community Rowing is putting this on again."
Scouting the Competition
The Bulldogs will be competing against Creighton and Northwestern in the Iowa Chase races. Creighton notched a fifth-place finish in the WCC Championships in their 2022-23 season. The Blue Jays have started their 2023-24 season strong, securing a victory against Kansas in their first race of the fall. The Northwestern Crew is a student-run rowing club. The crew previously competed in the Head of the Rock in Rockford, IL this season.
Coach DiSilvestro on the Bulldogs Outlook
"The team has been doing really well in training. We're excited to see Creighton and Northwestern and show ourselves that we've gotten better since the last time we were in Iowa City."
The Bulldog Boats
Drake will be rowing two varsity eights and five varsity fours.
