GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Drake University men's golf team finished up the first round of the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club (Par 72) in Goodyear, Ariz. earlier today. The Bulldogs found themselves tied for 18th in the 19-team field after the first 18 holes.
Drake's team score was 304 (+16) after round one. Marquette was the only team to record a team score under par at 287 (-1) followed by the hosts from Loyola Maryland at 289 (+1).
Lucas Scherf led the Bulldogs with an even par 72 and is positioned in a tie for 15th. Other Bulldogs included
Silvester Tan and
Nick Pittman, both tied for 70th after rounds of 76.
Shayne Patel and
Jack Dumas rounded out the Drake lineup with rounds of 80 and 83, respectively.
Brady Kaufmann of SIUE and Aryan Vuradi of George Mason are tied for the individual lead after shooting 68 each (-4).
The second round of the Loyola Intercollegiate will get underway Monday morning, Feb. 27.
