SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Drake men's golf team battled through rain, wind and temperatures in the upper 30's during the final round of the Missouri State Intercollegiate at Millwood Golf Club (par 71) on Tuesday (March 21).
"We played in very difficult conditions," head coach
Matt Lewis said. "Today was probably the most challenging with the weather. Lucas played great all three rounds while Jack and Nate put together solid rounds today. As a team, we had too many big numbers. We have a few weeks off before our next event. Hopefully, we can get outside soon to practice."
The Bulldogs needed to finish the second round on Tuesday morning that was called the evening before due to darkness with a couple of holes remaining. Drake (301-295-296-892) finished the second round with a team score of 295 before a 296 battling the conditions of day two.
Lucas Scherf (70-72-71-213, E) finished in a tie for fifth place overall, marking the third straight tournament that he's turned in a Top 20 finish.
Jack Dumas (74-72-73-220, +7) moved into a tie for 26
th while
Nate Spear (78-73-74-225, +12) moved past his first round 78.
Silvester Tan (78-80-78-236, +23) and
Nikko Ganas (81-78-80-239, +26) rounded out the Bulldog lineup.
Oral Roberts (291-278-285-854) came back to win the team title by six strokes over Wichita State. Drake finished in 11
th place.
The Bulldogs will not be back on the course for a tournament until the Hawkeye Invitational April 15-16.
