Track & Field Preview: John Jacobs Invitational

Drake track & field is sending a group to the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, tuning up for the Drake Relays next week.

The Basics
Drake track & field heads to Norman, Okla., for the John Jacobs Invitational April 21-22. Throws kick off the meet Friday, April 21 at 5 p.m.

Jim Duncan Invitational Recap
he Drake track & field team hosted the Jim Duncan Invitational Friday, April 14 with multiple school and personal bests set.
 
Anthony Barmes continued to better his own school and Missouri Valley Conference record in the men's hammer throw, moving the all-time mark to 231-4 while Ethan Marshall (209-7) took second on Friday with a personal best.
 
Chandler Haight broke her own Drake women's shot put program record from last week at 51 2 ½ to finish second in the shot put
 
Centaine Noom-Duckworth set her personal best in the women's hammer throw with a heave of 184-3 to rank second all-time in program history.
 
Adam Phillips (184-4) bested his own program record to finish second in the men's discus. On the women's side, Haight set a new discus PR of 156-5 to also place runner-up.
 
Juan Trasobares (3:54.59) won the men's 1500m while Aidan Simon took fourth with a PR of 3:58.14. On the women's side, Madysen Klebenow (4:56.73) registered a new 1500m personal best.
 
Savannah Ming turned in a runner-up 100m finish with a time of 12.36 followed by Rutendo Mafuta (12.66) in fifth.
 
Gracie Shannon earned a new PR of 2:19.85 in the women's 800m. Iris Hertting (59.24) finished 10th in the women's 400m.
 
Seth Simonson (1:54.82) and Pur Biel (154.89) finished neck-and-neck in the men's 800m for third and fourth place respectively.
 
Busiwa Asinga (1:02.66) won the women's 400m hurdles with Madison Bunton (1:03.42) in second place. The Drake women's 4x400 relay team of Asinga, Hertting, Bunting and Joan Nguyen came in second with a time of 3:53.69.
 
Brendan Cain was runner-up in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:26.14.
