NORMAL, Ill. – Brooke Mullins became the first Drake female athlete to win the 3000m steeplechase as she did so in record time on day two of the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships at the Redbird Track & Field Complex on Saturday, May 13
Mullins bested her own school record and broke the facility record with a time of 10:08.10 to win the women's 3000m steeplechase.
Hayden Cross qualified for the 400m final with a prelim time of 48.21.
Emilie Meyer had the second-fastest time (2:10.93) in the 800m prelims.
Chandler Haight just missed the podium in the women's shot put, but broke her own program record with a heave of 53-7.50.
Austin Jentz (52-4) and
Adam Phillips (48-5.25) finished ninth and 15
th respectively in the men's shot put.
Busiwa Asinga (women's 400m hurdles),
Isaac Basten (men's 1500m),
Aidan Simon (men's 1500m),
Juan Trasobares (men's 1500m) and
Hannah Behunin (women's 1500m) all qualified for Sunday's finals.
The third and final day of the MVC Outdoor Championships will commence on Sunday, May 14.
