Basten to Return to NCAA Outdoor Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Four-time NCAA All-American Isaac Basten will mark his return to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, he found out on Friday, May 26 after the men's 1500m quarterfinals.

Basten completed the 1500m run in 3:39.42, which was the fourth-fastest quarterfinal time. The Buffalo, Minn., native will now prepare for the semifinal round.

Earlier in the day, Adam Phillips competed in the men's discus first round, but did not advance after a throw of 48.95m/160-7.

Chandler Haight represented Drake in the women's shot put opening round on Thursday (May 15) but her throw of 14.94m/49-1/4 did not move her on to the next stage.

Basten will join Bulldog hammer thrower Anthony Barmes at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.

Brooke Mullins will compete in Saturday's 3000m steeplechase at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento at 7:40 p.m. (CT) for her right to run at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
