DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake junior Tucker DeVries was recognized regionally and nationally for his two outstanding performances that led to a pair of wins last week. DeVries was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and Lou Henson National Player of the Week, the organizations announced on Monday, Jan. 15. 

This is DeVries' second MVC Player of the Week honor this season. DeVries averaged 31.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists during wins over Indiana State and Southern Illinois. He matched his career-high of six made 3-pointers contributing to his 29 points while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists in the 89-78 win over Indiana State on Wednesday. DeVries topped that performance going 12-20 from the field for 34 points, seven rebounds and two assists as the Bulldogs defeated Southern Illinois on the road, 76-58. DeVries has scored 30 or more points five times in his career (three so far this season).

Just days after being named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch list, DeVries was honored as the Lou Henson National Player of the Week. The Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division-I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach.

Drake men's basketball will travel to Illinois State for a mid-week road contest on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Evansville on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. during Des Moines' Hometown Weekend.
