Personal Bests Aplenty at Black & Gold Invitational

The Drake track & field team has been rolling to start the indoor campaign.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Drake track & field team continued its impressive start to the indoor season at the Black & Gold Invitational inside the Hawkeye Indoor Track Facility Jan. 26-27.

"We are definitely satisfied leaving Iowa City," head coach Jay Koloseus said. "It was a big ask to match the energy from last week. However, that is exactly what our teams were able to do. We were very excited to add new athletes to the lineup and continue to adjust the record book. In meetings this week, we challenged the event groups to establish certain goals. This weekend's performance showed that the teams are synced with those goals."

In the men's shot put, Austin Jentz wound up in fourth place in the meet with his PR of 52-02.25, which ranks fifth all-time in the school record book. Cooper Cerese turned in a season-best performance of 50-08.00.

Centaine Noom-Duckworth collected another top-three finish in the women's weight throw (62-03.75). Chinemerem Iwuagwu turned in a heave of 55-07.50, as she remains fourth in the Drake indoor record book.

Anthony Barmes won the men's weight throw with a personal best heave of 69-01.50 to move into second all-time in the Drake indoor record book while Adam Phillips (69-00.00) was the runner-up. Sam Carpenter recorded a new personal best of 62-10.25 while finishing in seventh place.

Savannah Ming turned in a runner-up finish in the women's 60m dash with a personal best of 7.67 to move into fourth all-time in the Drake women's indoor record book. Kristian Lodholz recorded a personal best of 6.85 while finishing fifth in the men's 60m dash finals.

Dylan DeAngelo took third in the men's 600m with a time of 1:24.27, just ahead of teammate Dyer Jarabek (1:24.70) in fifth. Vanessa Lee set a personal record of 2:26.85 in the women's 800m run.

Carmen Krawcyznski Gonzalez was the runner-up in the women's mile with a time of 4:56.26, which ranks 10th all-time at Drake. Anastasia Kirillov (5:00.70) was not far behind in fourth place.
