PEORIA, Ill. – Drake cross country continued its 2024 slate with a loaded race at the 2024 Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria. The Bulldogs posted several solid showings as they hit stride before the upcoming MVC Championships.
"I'm quite satisfied wrapping up the Bradley Pink Classic," Drake head coach Jay Koloseus said. "We were immensely happy seeing our men beat all our conference rivals while holding out some of our best athletes."
Drake had five competitors in the Red Race on the men's side of things.
Enzo Marie had a great afternoon with a 12th-place result after running his 8K in 24:06.41.
Brogan Giffin (24:22.08) and
Juan Trasobares (24:23.35) went back-to-back in 32nd and 33rd, respectively, while Drake newbie
Harrison Martinenko (24:38.79) took 55th.
Brendan Cain rounded out the Bulldogs' mens finishers in 25:00.23.
A trio of Bulldog women ran in the Women's Red Race, one of which finished inside the top 10.
Tyla Lumley ran an impressive 6K in 20:30.24 to take eighth place.
Breanna Burak took 23rd in the Red division with a time of 20:59.77.
Emilie Meyer finished out Drake's Red Race roster with a 64th-place run in 21:32.34.
Four more Drake women competed in the Women's White Race with
Meghan Coulter leading the way. Coulter finished 78th in that division with a time of 24:21.65.
Hannah Quinn (24:30.45) and
Vanessa Lee (24:36.53) logged top-90 results while
Hannah Kilday (24:51.16) rounded out Drake's effort in 95th.
"Seeing our ladies jump Northern Iowa was very exciting as well," Koloseus continued. "I think today set us up for a great Missouri Valley Conference [meet]. These next two weeks are critical for us to capitalize and show out best cards at the championships."
Koloseus' Bulldogs will next compete at the 2024 MVC Championships on Friday, Nov. 1. Team and individual league titles will be up for grabs in Cedar Falls starting at 11 a.m.
