Bulldog back runs through Stetson D en route to weekly honor

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake running back Davion Cherwin capped off a great 2024 regular season with the Pioneer Football League's final Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced today.

Cherwin ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns, including a 91-yard scoring dash, to help Drake secure the league's automatic bid and outright title with a win at Stetson. His 91-yard rushing touchdown set the tone as Drake secured the PFL automatic bid with a 49-10 victory at Stetson on Saturday. He rushed for a Bulldogs season-best 161 yards on 11 carries – 14.6 yards per carry – and had two touchdowns in the win. The 91-yard run was the longest rush in the PFL this season, putting Drake up 21-7 early in the second quarter. Earlier in the game, he scored on a seven-yard run for a 14-0 lead.
