The Basics
The Bulldogs will host the Creighton Blue Jays for the annual "Drake-Creighton Dual" on Saturday, Nov. 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Bright-Beckwith Boathouse in Des Moines. Drake always hosts Creighton in the fall, and the two teams will meet again at Creighton in the Spring. This is the longest standing race for the Bulldogs, as it's been occurring for over 30 years.
Head Coach Charlie DiSilvestro on the Race
"We're excited for this one. It's our last race of the fall and the team's doing well in their training. It's a shift from our first two races where we did head racing, and it was all off a clock. This one is side by side with Creighton and you know instantly if you won or lost."
Race Format
The head-to-head competition is a sprint race, with a 600-meter course instead of the usual 2,000 meters. Due to the shorter distance, boats will compete to win the best two out of three races.
Bulldog Boats
Drake will race a varsity eight, a second varsity eight, a varsity four, a second varsity four and a novice eighth.
