Bulldog Track & Field Placed in Middle of Both Men's and Women's Indoor Preseason Polls

Drake men slated in sixth, women eighth ahead of 2025 indoor season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Drake University track and field teams are nearly ready for another indoor season. The Bulldog men were slotted sixth and women eighth in the 2025 Preseason Poll, the league announced today.
 
At the 2024 MVC Indoor Championships, the Bulldogs finished fourth in the men with 68 points and eighth in the women with 48 points. The men claimed five all-conference honors across four events with three champion titles in the Mile, Distance Medley Relay, and weight throw. All-American Anthony Barmes led the Bulldogs in the weight throw with a first-place finishing toss of 21.11m alongside teammate Adam Phillips' runner-up toss of 20.87m. The Bulldog women finished the 2024 Indoor Championship with two championships titles in the 3000m and 5000m alongside 8 top 8 finishes in the 800m, mile, 3000m, 5000m, and Weight Throw.
 
Indiana State, last year's champion in both men's and women's indoor and outdoor meets, claimed the top spot in the pair of polls. The Sycamores men claimed nine first-place votes with coaches for 99 total points. The women earned ten first-place votes in the polls with 140 total points. Murray State and Illinois State earn the second-place spots in the polls with the Racer women earning 128 points with two first-place votes and the Redbird men claiming 85 points with the coaches. In narrow third-place margins, the Redbird women tallied 123 points behind the Racers and the Northern Iowa men tallied 84 points with one first place vote, one point behind the Redbird men.
