BOSTON, Mass. -- Isaac Basten will represent Drake track & field and the Missouri Valley Conference at the NCAA indoor track & field championships March 8-9.
Basten, the MVC men's mile record holder will compete on Friday in the men's mile prelim at 3 p.m. (CT) at The Track at New Balance The senior set the MVC mile record of 3:53.54 at the 2024 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 9.
He has claimed eight MVC titles at the MVC Indoor Championships after earning gold in the mile at the 2024 MVC Indoor Championships. This trip to the national championships will be Basten's sixth to the National stage in track and field with his last indoor Nationals performance earning him a runner-up disinction, falling just short (.03) of the National title with a time of 4:03.36 in 2023. Basten has garnered All-American honors five times in track and field so far.
The top eight finishers advance to the final on Saturday, March 9 at 3 p.m. (CT).
