Bulldogs Wrap Up Stay at Kansas Relays

Drake throwers highlight solid showing at esteemed collegiate event

LAWRENCE, Kan. The Drake University track and field team competed in the Kansas Relays from April 18-20 amongst other top teams from all over the nation. The women's and men's programs both had a strong showing and did well overall against some tough competition.  
 
The Drake field athlete had an especially strong weekend. Anthony Barmes (69.10) placed second in hammer throw with Centaine Noom-Duckworth (57.70) first in hammer throw. Freshman Lara Smits (12.84m) placed ninth in shot put and sixth place (47.25) in discus throw.  
 
On the track of the events, Gracie Shannon (2:20.08) placed sixth in the 800m. Briandrias Rhodes (25:04.1) also placed a respectable 10th in the 200m dash.  
 
Erin Macfarlane (4:58.07) got sixth in 1500m followed by Meghan Coulter (5:00.60) in seventh in 1500m. 
 
Next up, the Drake athletes will be returning to Des Moines for the 114th Drake Relays. Competition on the Blue Oval starts on Wednesday, April 24 and runs through Saturday, April 27.
