DES MOINES, Iowa — Drake University hosted the 114th Drake Relays that featured athletes from all over the world including a selection from the Bulldog Track and Field squad.
A pair of Bulldogs competed in the WACT Invitational events at the Drake Relays.
Isaac Basten set a school record in the 800 with a time of 1:46.89, good enough for fifth place. In the field,
Anthony Barmes took seventh in the WACT invitational hammer throw after uncorking a toss of 69.28m/227-3.
Juan Trasobares (3:47.82) got sixth in the unseeded men's 1500 while Aziz JDai (8:59.43) got eighth in the men's 3000m Steeplechase.
Connor Visnic (14:11.51) grabbed the gold in the unseeded men's 5000m along with
Brogan Giffin (13:59.49) snagging third in the men's 5000. For the men's relay teams, Basten, Giffin, Jdai, and
Aidan Simon (16:50.87) placed second in the men's 4x1600.
On the women's side, two throwers stood out in the open section of the university/college division.
Centaine Noom-Duckworth, the runner-up in the field, marked another program record with a throw of 62.21m/204-1. Her teammate, Chinemerem Igwuagwu, took third and fired a new personal best of 60.11m/197-2.
Emilie Meyer (2:10.44) placed fourth in the women's 800m and freshman
Lara Smits (49.26) placed third in the women's discus throw to round out the notable finishers of the event.
