Hannah Weiss Added to Bulldog Coaching Staff

XCTF Programs gain Assistant Coach and Director of Operations

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University cross country and track & field programs have added a talented coach to their staffs. Hannah Weiss has been named the teams' newest Assistant Coach and Director of Operations, head coach Jay Koloseus announced today.

Weiss comes to Des Moines after a two-year stint at Wartburg College where she assisted with the Knights' cross country and track & field programs. Weiss earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Business Marketing from Loras College where she also honed her skills as a competitor. She still holds the Duhawks' program records in the indoor 600m, indoor and outdoor 800m, indoor 1000m, indoor and outdoor distance medley relay, indoor sprint medley relay, and indoor and outdoor 4x800 relay. After concluding her time at Loras, Weiss eventually earned her Master's in Sports Leadership from North Central College.

Prior to her time in Waverly, Hannah served as the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio for six years. While at Capital, Weiss led coaching and recruiting efforts of sprinters and distance runners while coordinating fundraising and general development of both programs. Under her tutelage, Capital student-athletes established over 25 school records, garnered five NCAA All-America nods and earned 14 total Academic All-American honors.

Weiss previously served as the director of cross country and track and field at Capital University in Columbus for six years. At Capital, Weiss coached and recruited sprint and distance runners and coordinated the coaching, recruiting, fundraising and general development of both programs. Under her leadership, her student-athletes set 28 new school records, added 64 new names to the men's Top 10 list and 110 to the women's Top 10 and earned 14 Academic All-American honors. She also coached 10 NCAA qualifiers and five All-Americans.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to bring Hannah on staff," Koloseus said. "I have followed her career for some time now and have wanted to work with her for a while. She is a Dowling Catholic graduate and, with preexisting relationships with our staff, she was an obvious choice. Her experience and impact on the sport has been tremendous, which is a viewpoint shared by coaches around the country. I am so excited for her to thrive at Drake and help our program in so many facets."

Hannah is also still an active runner training to compete. A 2010 Drake Relays distance medley relay champion, Weiss holds personal bests of 2:48 in the marathon and 1:19 in the half marathon.
