ST. LOUIS, Ind. – First-year goalkpeer Tomas Butkovic was rewarded for a stellar week in net for the Bulldogs with the MVC Defensive Player of the Week award, the league announced this afternoon.
 
Butkovic picked up a pair of wins to help Drake extend its winning streak to four games. He logged a 2-0 shutout victory over Kansas City (Sep. 9) before opening MVC action with a 2-1 win at Evansville (Sep. 14). Butkovic logged six totals saves during the week with an .857 save percentage. Four of his stops came vs. Kansas City.
 
The freshman Australian leads The Valley with three shutouts and has totaled 19 saves on the year.
 
Butkovic and the Bulldogs visit Omaha tonight for another non-conference opportunity before welcoming Belmont to Des Moines to get back into league play.
