LINCOLN, Neb. – The Drake cross country squad had a successful showing at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln on Saturday.
Enzo Marie highlighted the day for the Bulldogs with a victory in the Men's 8000m Red Division after running 24:41.25, good enough for fourth overall.
Juan Trasobares also posted a top 20 finish in 17th with a time of 25:24.50. Other Bulldog men included
Brendan Cain (42nd, 26:06.70),
Xander Kwa (68th, 26:41.10), and
Gaven Corpin (113th, 27:24.60). Drake's men's group finished tied for sixth overall as a team with 203 total points.
A trio of Drake women finished in the top 10 of the 5000m as Drake performed sensationally.
Emilie Meyer led the way in fifth with a mark of 17:49.50.
Anastasia Kirillov and
Breanna Burak went back-to-back in seventh and eighth, respectively. Kirillov came across the line in 17:55.50 while Burak posted a time of 18:00.10.
Chiara Belfico (49th, 19:09.00) inched inside the top 50 for Drake. The Bulldog women were rounded out by
Gracie Shannon (73
rd, 19:47.90),
Maia Italia (126th, 20:42.00), Erin Macfarlane (128th, 20:44.10),
Hannah Kilday (134th, 20:52.40),
Meghan Coulter (138th, 20:59.80),
Vanessa Lee (148th, 21:14.4), and
Hannah Quinn (169th, 21:36.3). The Drake women were fourth as a team with 126 points.
The Bulldogs will travel to Chicago, Ill. for their next meet on Oct. 4. Former MVC rival Loyola-Chicago is set to host the Lakefront Invitational.
