XCTF Finishes Second Consecutive Successful Event in Ames

Noom-Duckworth, women's 4x400 relay capture golds at Cyclone Open

AMES, Iowa – The Drake University track and field team had another positive performance in Ames on Saturday. The Bulldogs got wins in the women's 4x400 and weight throw to continue their successful start to the indoor season.
 
Centaine Noom-Duckworth picked up another top spot in the women's weight throw (19.29m/63'-3.5") while Maud Visscher took fifth (16.39m/53'-9.25") in the same field. Sam Carpenter finished the night in fourth (19.38m/63'-7") on the men's side of the weight throw. Elsewhere among the throwers, Lara Smits earned third in the women's shot put (14.29m/46'-10.75") while Cooper Cerese (16.37m/53'-8.5") and Ethan Elliott (15.47m/50'-9.25") took fourth and sixth, respectively, in the men's shot put.
 
Zofia Landowska posted an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump (5.23m/17'-2") while Ayla Barrett earned sixth in the women's high jump (1.45m/4'-9").
 
On the track, Emilie Meyer placed third in the women's mile (4:50.28) while Tyla Lumley (4:52.58), Breanna Burak (4:55.29), and Anastasia Kirillov (4:55.91) came across in sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively. Harrison Martinenko had another solid showing in the men's mile with a time of 4:01.81, good enough for fifth place.
 
Drake Dombrosky, a freshman, came across in eighth in the men's 400 with a time of 49.99. Justin Cunningham had an even better sprint win the men's 60m with a third-place result (6.90).
 
Savannah Ming highlighted the Drake women's sprinters with a fifth-place effort in the women's 200m dash (25.03).
 
Lastly, both the Drake men and women competed well in their respective 4x400 relay. Hayden Cross, Dylan DeAngelo, Drake Dombrosky, and Dyer Jarabek teamed up to take fourth (3:23.64) while the Drake women won their relay race. Ming and Meyer combined with Bria Rhodes and Madison Bunton to post a winning pace of 3:54.33.
 
"We have a pleasure of leaving Ames today with 23 personal records," Drake head coach Jay Koloseus said. "Winning the women's 4x400 was immensely fun. The coaching staff and I are satisfied with today's effort."
 
Drake will head to Topeka, Kan. next weekend to compete at the Washburn Open from Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
