MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Calvin Song era of Drake women's tennis began on Saturday in the Sunflower State. The Bulldogs were ousted by Kansas State in a pair of matches, 7-0, 4-0.
 
The Wildcats earned the doubles point in the first match, but Drake was able get on the board. Newcomer Tess Caldicott and veteran Nicole Lee teamed up to beat Tereza Polakova and Zali Morris in the No. 2 doubles position. That victory was Drake's only of the day.
 
Kansas State then swept through the first four singles bouts and won the final two via forfeit to secure the 7-0 victory.
 
The second match of the day featured only singles action, but Kansas State did not skip a beat. The Bulldogs battled again but could not chip away. Caldicott took K-State's Veronika Kulhava to extra points, but that match went unfinished.
 
The Wildcats went on to win the match, 4-0.
 
Drake will be on the road again next weekend with another non-conference double-header. The Bulldogs will visit Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 1.
