DES MOINES, Iowa. – The Drake track and field team divided and conquered over the weekend with successful stays at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and Maverick Premier in Mankato, Minn. The Bulldogs' performances were highlighted by an individual win in the men's mile and a women's program record.
"[It was] an exciting weekend with a split team in Mankato and Fayetteville," Drake head coach Jay Koloeus said. "We're blown away by
Emilie Meyer's new school record and
Brogan Giffin winning the Tyson mile. We finished the weekend with 21 personal records. We also have a number of athletes currently under the weather, so it's time to get healthy and ready for championships."

Senior
Brogan Giffin collected the lone Drake victory of the weekend in Fayetteville. Giffin ran a 3:56.13 mile to take first place in a loaded field.
On the women's side in Fayetteville,
Anastasia Kirillov earned fourth in the 3,000 with a time of 9:42.24 while
Emilie Meyer posted a 4:42.83 pace in the mile. Meyer's showing set the Bulldogs' program record.
The rest of the Drake runners on the Arkansas side of the weekend were highlighted by
Gracie Shannon's 2:16.94 800m run to take 25th, true freshman
Gaven Corpin's 1:54.26 800 to earn 34th, and
Savannah Ming's 50th-place 200m dash in 24.99.
Centaine Noom-Duckworth had the best finish among Drake's field event participants with a 14th place result in the women's weight throw. Noom-Duckworth posted a toss of 18.52m/60'-9.25".
Sam Carpenter finished in 16th in the men's weight throw with a heave of 18.71m/61'-4.75". Drake's shot-putting trio of
Ethan Elliott (17.01m/55'-9.75"),
Cooper Cerese (17.01m/55'-9.75"), and
Maud Visscher (13.88m/45'-6.5") all finished in the top 30.

Not only did Drake have a solid showing in Arkansas, but the Bulldogs also executed well in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Drake Dombrosky took the top spot in the men's 400m with a time of 50.94. His teammates
Dyer Jarabek (51.44) and
Dylan DeAngelo (51.86) also earned top 10 finishes in eighth and ninth, respectively.
Madison Bunton hauled in a fifth-place finish in the women's 400 with a run of 59.22.
Malachi Collier (8.34) and
Khalil Kaba (8.38) came across in third and sixth, respectively, in the men's 60m hurdles.
Briandrias Rhodes added another sixth in the women's 60m dash to round out Drake's sprinting effort.
In the longer races, women's milers
Chiara Belfico (5:28.68) and
Hannah Kilday (5:30.11) finished back-to-back in 18th and 19th, respectively.
The Bulldogs will send a contingent to the Iowa City on Feb. 21 for their next event, the Iowa Open, before competing in the MVC Indoor Championships from Mar. 2-3 in Chicago.
