TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Drake softball team continued its play at the Easton Bama Bash on Saturday with a doubleheader against host institution, No. 21 Alabama. The Bulldogs ultimately lost both contests on the day to the Crimson Tide by scores of 19-0 and 11-2

In the first game of the day between the Bulldogs and the Tide, Alabama jumped in front early and never relinquished its lead. The Crimson Tide showed off their power scoring nine runs in the first inning. Seven of the nine runs were scored from two homers, an RBI triple, and an RBI double.
In the second inning, Alabama scored six more runs to increase its lead to 15-0.
The final four runs of the game came in the fourth inning with the Crimson Tide hitting a pair of two-run blasts.
The Bulldogs couldn't find their offensive game against the pitching duo of Emily Winstead and Braya Hodges of Alabama.
Natalee Watts, however, recorded the lone base hit of the game for Drake with a single to center field in the top of the fifth.

Alabama was out to a fast start again in game two as it took a 4-0 lead after the first inning. Abby Duchscherer began the scoring with a double to right field followed by a two-RBI single by Brooke Ellestad. The final run of the frame came off a double by Kennedy Marceaux.
Duchscherer did more damage with a two-run shot in the second inning to extend the Tide's lead to 6-0.
Drake responded in the third inning with a pair of runs to get on the scoreboard.
Emma Dighton plated the first run after poking a base knock through the left side. Freshman
Ava Curry followed Dighton's lead on the next at-bat with a base hit through the right side for the second run.
As the game flipped to the home half of the third, Alabama continued to score. The Tide put up five more runs making the score 11-2, which proved to be the final output of the contest.
Drake closes out its time at the Easton Bama Bash with a single game against Southern Utah tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CT.
