DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's basketball was represented by four student-athletes on this year's College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's Basketball teams, CSC announced today.
Seniors
Courtney Becker,
Katie Dinnebier, and
Anna Miller, as well as junior
Abbie Aalsma, were placed on the Academic All-District List.
Becker owns 3.87 cumulative grade point average as a graduate student in Drake's pharmacy program. She was recently named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Second Team, the second MVC academic honor of her career. The fifth-year player started every game for the Bulldogs this season and averaged 10.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Becker shot .573 from the field and had her best free throw shooting year of her career with an .806 percentage.
Dinnebier, another pharmacy student, has a 3.74 GPA in her last year at Drake. She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and earned her second straight Jackie Stiles MVC Player of the Year award. Dinnebier was also an MVC Scholar-Athlete selection last season. One of the most prolific players in program history, Dinnebier had a historic senior season with an average of 23.4 points, 7.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals while shooting .500 from the field, .396 from 3-point range, and .804 from the charity stripe. Dinnebier is one of two Bulldogs eligible for CSC Academic All-America honors.
Miller ends her career with another academic honor as a 4.00 student in the Health Sciences program. Miller won the last two MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and Elite 17 Awards while also earning First Team All-MVC honors and two straight MVC Defensive Player of the Year recognitions. Miller averaged 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds this season. During the year, she became Drake's all-time leading shot blocker and the sixth player in team history to record over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Miller, like Dinnebier, is eligible for CSC Academic All-America status
Finally, Aalsma is another 4.00 student for the Bulldogs. She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Third Team in her first year in Des Moines while studying Sociology and Elementary Education. The junior sharpshooter averaged 9.7 points and 2.0 rebounds while connecting on 45 percent of her 3-point attempts.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
