ABILENE, Texas – The Drake women's golf team saw its time at the West Texas Classic end after two rounds of play due to high winds canceling the final round on Tuesday. With that, the Bulldogs ended the tournament in fifth place with a team score of 610 (300-310).
Host institution Abilene Christian claimed the team title with a 36-hole score of 581 (292-289).
The Bulldogs had three individuals place in the top-20 with
Erika Holmberg taking the top spot on the leaderboard with a total score of 151. Holmberg post rounds of 74 and 77 en route to a tied for 14th finish. Next up on the leaderboard was
Amber Henson and
Julie Huggins, who both tied for 18th at 152, respectively. Henson fired rounds of 75 and 77 while Huggins shot back-to-back rounds of 76.
Alexis Reyes finished her tournament outing tied for 27th with a total of 155 (75-80).
Rylee Heryford was consistent with two straight rounds of 82 to place her tied for 66th at 164.
Kate Connolly, who competed as an individual, tied for 57th posting a final score of 162 (79-83).
Ryan Honea from Abilene Christian took home individual medalist honors and was the only player in the field under par at 2-under 138 (67-71).
