WATERLOO, Ill. – The Drake women's golf team completed play at the MVC Championship from Annbriar Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon and took home a third-place finish. The Bulldogs fired a total score of 906 (301-298-307) after 54 holes of play to finish in third place for the second consecutive year at the conference championship.
Posting the best individual finish on the leaderboard for Drake was
Erika Holmberg, who tied for sixth place. Holmberg posted a total score of 221 (70-78-73) and fired the low round of the tournament for the Bulldogs with her 2-under, 70 in her opening round.
Next in line with another top-10 finish for the Bulldogs was
Amber Henson. She held sole possession of eighth place and was one stroke behind Holmberg at 222 (73-74-75). At the conclusion of the tournament, Henson was named to the All-Conference Team.
Julie Huggins finished just outside the top-20 in a tie for 21st. The senior shot a three-day total of 229, which included rounds of 78, 71, and 80.
Completing the Drake lineup was
Rylee Heryford and
Kate Connolly. Heryford tied for 42nd (80-75-84=239) and Connolly tied for 55th (85-84-79=248), respectively.
Illinois State claimed the conference title for the second consecutive season posting a team score of 847, which set a MVC Championship record. The Redbirds finished 31 strokes better than tournament runner-up Missouri State.
Bradley's Jillian Coster won top individual medalist honors with a 215 (71-72-72) total score.
This concludes the 2024-25 season for the Drake women's golf team.
