DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake Rowing returned to the water for its final event of the fall season as it hosted Creighton from the Bright-Beckwith Boathouse on a Halloween Saturday.
 
The Bulldogs and Bluejays went up against each other in six race styles in 600-meter pieces in a best two-out-of-three format. The results from the first two pieces determined if the boat needed to race a third time.
 
Creighton claimed victories in all three races between Varsity 1, Varsity 2, and Varsity 4 with the Varsity 1 and Varsity 2 pieces having to go to a third race.
 
In the second set, which featured 3V8, 4V8, and 2V4 races, Drake won the 3V8 and the 4V8, but Creighton came back with a victory in the 2V4 to claim the overall victory 4-2.
 
"Although the results didn't shake out our way this morning, the Bulldogs put together a great effort throughout our team's depth to make every event a fight," Drake head coach Dawson Shyne-Appignani said. "Coming up a few seats short in the first and second eights to lose the cup stings for our women, but they are resilient and ready to train to flip those margins in May. Now it's on to the winter to continue raising our standards each day."

This concludes the fall schedule for the Drake Rowing team. The Bulldogs will return to action for the spring season with a schedule to be announced later.
