DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake women's tennis got back on track with a 4-3 home win over the Mavericks of Omaha. The Bulldog victory marked their third in Drake's last four matches.
 
The visiting Mavericks got off to a solid start on Saturday, securing the doubles point with wins by Katelynn Kock/Nina Wiese in the No. 1 spot, and Khayli Buckets/Summer Shannon in the No. 3 match.
 
Drake's tandem of Maja Dodik and Jordane Dookie picked up a No. 2 doubles win over Jacqueline Pearsall and Shelby Smith, but the Dogs could not make any magic elsewhere as Omaha took a 1-0 advantage.
 
Kristina Tai started things off for the Bulldogs in singles action with a No. 4 win over Pearsall, but the Mavericks were able to retaliate with two wins of their own to regain the team lead.
 
Trailing 3-1, Drake needed wins in all three remaining contests to earn the win, and they did just that. No. 6 player Milana Dejanovic defeated Grace Greenwald before Dodik earned an exciting win in the top spot.
 
Elizabete Klavinska provided the match-winning result in the No. 5 slot with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 result over Shelby Smith. Klavinska's triumph put the Dogs over the top for the 4-3 victory.
 
Drake will conclude its 5-game homestand next weekend with a Mar. 14 match against South Dakota. The Bulldogs and Coyotes will get things started at noon.
