Women's Tennis Preview: MVC Tennis Championship

No. 5 seed Bulldogs looking to make a run in postseason play

The Basics
Drake women's tennis will be back in Chicago for the second straight week as the top six Valley teams convene for the 2026 MVC Tennis Championships. The Bulldogs enter tournament play as the No. 5 seed and will battle No. 4 Bradley at 10 a.m. on Friday morning.

Bulldog Breakdown
The Bulldogs ended their regular season slate on a 3-match losing streak including a 4-3 home loss to Bradley on April 11. More recently, Drake suffered two close losses at Valpo and UIC to punctuate their schedule.

Head coach Calvin Song has guided Drake to the MVC tournament twice in his first two seasons at the helm. Drake will be looking to improve upon last year's first round exit to No. 3 Illinois State.

Scouting Bradley
The Bradley Braves enter postseason play at 9-12 overall and 4-3 in MVC play. The Braves also ended their regular season on a 2-match skid with losses to Illinois State and Illinois after ripping off four consecutive wins.

Drake holds a major advantage in their all-time series with Bradley. The Bulldogs own a 20-4 record against the Braves, but two of those four losses have come in the last two meetings.

Up Next
The winner of Friday's first round affair between Drake and Bradley will advance to the league semifinals for a date with No. 1 seed UIC on Saturday at 10 a.m.
