DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University cheer team will now be under the direction of Amy Brundage, the Bulldogs announced today.
Brundage boasts a career with 12 years of cheer coaching experience including six with head coaching status. She has proven success in developing student-athletes and expanding participation numbers at every stop. Brundage prioritizes positive team culture and skill development while maintaining the enthusiastic spirit necessary to lead cheer teams.
She takes over at Drake while serving as the cheer coach at Prairie City-Monroe High School since 2021. While with the Mustangs, she guides cheer activities for both middle school and high school programs, overseeing squads at football, basketball, wrestling, and competitive events.
Brundage was the assistant cheer coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa where she helped improve their tumbling and stunting technique.
"I am extremely passionate about helping student-athletes develop their skills and reach their full potential, both as cheerleaders and as individuals preparing for their future endeavors," Brundage said. "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead Drake Cheer and look forward to contributing my experience, knowledge, and dedication to the continued success of the program. Go Bulldogs!"
Since 2024, Brundage has also worked as a tumbling coach as the owner of Pony Power Tumbling where she instructs group classes and private lessons to deliver proper technique, safety, and skills for developing tumblers and cheerleaders.
Brundage attended William Penn where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management. She is an active USA Cheer Coach member.
