Cortney Banse

Cortney (Wood) Banse is a former Drake softball player that now serves as an assistant coach in the Bulldogs' program. She is responsible for developing catchers and other assigned coaching duties.

During her collegiate softball career, Cortney played in 97 total games at Drake with 94 starts behind the plate. She hit for a .249 average over two seasons with the Bulldogs including 68 total hits and 28 runs scored. Prior to joining the Drake program, Banse played two seasons as an infielder and catcher at Indian Hills Community College where she earned All-Region honors. 

Banse comes from a softball-centric family including two sisters, Nicole and Amber, who also played at the collegiate level at Drake and Iowa State, respectively. Cortney's father, David, also attended Iowa State where he was a member of the Cyclones' baseball program.

Banse currently resides in Indianola with her husband, Matt, and her son, Freeman.
