Zenor Named Academic All-American

DES MOINES, IOWA Drake senior defender Adam Zenor (Cedar Rapids Kennedy) has been named a third-team selection to the ESPN Academic All-America mens soccer team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Zenor becomes the second Drake mens soccer player ever to earn Academic All-America honors, joining Matt Sahag who earned second-team honors in 2002.

Zenor, a pre-law major who passed the Law School Admissions Test in June, helped the Bulldogs to a No. 25 national ranking to start the season. He led Drake to its third consecutive MVC Tournament appearance and assisted the Bulldogs only goal in the quarterfinal match at Bradley Oct. 6.

To qualify for Academic All-America status, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). The student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in 50 percent of the teams games at the position listed.
