DES MOINES, IOWA ? Sophomore Crystal Townley (Colorado Sprints, Colo.) was named the Brine/Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her play during the opening round of the State Farm MVC Tournament.

Townley scored both of Drake's goals in its first-ever opening round win of the Valley tournament, including their game-winning overtime golden goal to lift the Bulldogs over Missouri State, Sunday.

Appearing in all 18 matches for the Bulldogs, Townley is tied for the lead on the team with seven goals, which ranks third in the MVC.

Townley is the fourth Brine/MVC Player of the week for the Bulldogs this season. Junior Katie Sauer (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned the first Player of the Week nod for her defensive performance on Sept. 10, followed by Jenny Schroeder (Albuquerque, N.M.) on Sept. 24. Sarah Foote (Arvada, Colo.) is the only other Offensive Player of the Week for Drake this season earning the honor on Oct. 7.

Drake continues action in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament facing top-seeded Illinois State at 5 p.m. in the semifinal round on Friday at Black Beauty Field in Evansville, Ind.
