EAST LANSING, MICH. - The Drake women's tennis team concluded its fall campaign on Friday (Oct. 24) at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest regional as the Bulldogs came up short in each of their three doubles tilts.
Seniors
Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic/Gymnazium) and
Sarah Plowman (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar) were dealt an 8-2 setback at the hands of Miami University's Stephanie Danesis and Megan Martzolf in the opening round of the main draw.
In Drake's other main draw doubles tilt, the freshmen tandem of
Gabby Demos (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) and
Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) suffered an 8-5 loss to Julie Voss and Kelsey Haviland of Ohio State.
In consolation action, the duo of Leszayova and Plowman dropped an 8-5 decision to Katie Potts and Kristin Rafeal of Notre Dame.
The Bulldogs open their spring campaign on Jan. 23, 2009 as Drake travels up I-35 for a date at Iowa State.
