MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. ? Arkansas (7-2) softball needed eight innings to down the Drake (1-1) softball team in the Bulldogs second game of the Metrodome Tournament, 5-4, Friday.
Drake powered back from a 2-0 deficit after the first inning by scoring a run in the fourth inning as senior Susan Sly cord (West Des Moines, Iowa) singled-home senior
Kristin Birocci (Des Moines, Iowa).
Drake took a 4-3 advantage after a three-run sixth inning. Sophomore
Elena Leon (West Des Moines, Iowa) kicked off the inning y doubling to center field. Freshman
Erin Bly (Frankfort, Ill.) singled-home Leon before senior
Jaci Faidley (Colfax, Iowa) hit a two-run home run to cap the three-run stanza.
The Lady Razorbacks evened the tally at 4-4 on a Sandra Smith RBI-single. Arkansas took the final 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth to earn the win.
Freshman
Jenna DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho) took the loss for the Bulldogs. DeLong threw two innings giving up two runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Bly led the Bulldogs with two hits and one RBI. Faidley notched one hit with two RBI.
Drake continues action at the Metrodome Tournament on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match up against tournament host Minnesota.
