TEMPE, ARIZ. ? Senior Susan Slycord's (West Des Moines, Iowa) grand slam home run in the first inning kicked off Drake's 10-0 five-inning win over Arkansas (18-4) in the final day of the Wilson/Demarini Invitational Sunday.

Drake improved its record to 7-8 and will face McNeese State and Oklahoma at the Oklahoma/Worth Invitational in Norman, Okla. March 8-9.

Senior Kristin Birocci (Des Moines, Iowa) walked to lead off the first inning. Sophomore Elena Leon (West Des Moines, Iowa) singled up the middle before freshman Erin Mollohan (Tinley Park, Ill.) reached on a dropped fly.

Slycord, who notched five RBI on the day, then stepped in and drove in all four batters on a home run to left field.

Freshman Brynne Dordel (Chanhassen, Minn.) held the Lady Razorbacks scoreless through the first two frames. Dordel, who recorded her fifth win on the season (5-2), allowed only two hits, while striking out seven batters.

The Bulldogs notched four more runs in the fourth inning when senior Marilyn Buss (West Des Moines, Iowa) led off with a double to right center. Birocci singled up the middle to drive in Buss before scoring on a fielding error.

Leon also scored on a fielding error before sophomore Kelsey Kahler (North Liberty, Iowa) scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Jaci Faidley (Colfax, Iowa) to cap off the inning.

Freshman Jenna DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho) led off the fifth inning with a double to right-center. Buss singled her home, advanced to second on the throw and advanced to third on an error. Buss then scored on a wild pitch, capping the 10-0 day for the Bulldogs.

Arkansas had runners on second and third in the third inning, but Dordel retired the side on a strikeout.

Leon went 3-4 from the plate with two runs scored, while Buss was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

The Bulldogs out hit the Lady Razorbacks, 9-2, while committing no errors to Arkansas' four.
