CARBONDALE, ILL. -- Three runs on three errors and one hit proved to be the difference as the Drake softball team knocked off top-seeded Creighton in the semifinal round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship Saturday.

Brynne Dordel (Chanhassen, Minn.) struck out the side to get in the first and third innings to keep the Creighton offense at bay.

Buss' single marked Drake's only hit of the game. The Bulldogs were out hit by Creighton, 5-1.
Dordel moved into third place on the Drake single-season strikeout chart, recording 11 in her 18th win of the season.
Senior
Jaci Faidley (Colfax, Iowa) reached on an error by Creighton shortstop Bailey Dawson and scored on a fielding error by Michelle Koch, taking a 3-0 lead for Drake in the fourth inning.
Dordel had a shutout going into the bottom of the seventh but gave up a lead off home run to Creighton's Koch. Jessica Wakasugi then reached on a double down the left field line and scored on a ground out by pinch hitter Mary Egan, moving within one run of the Bulldogs, 3-2.
After two strikes, Dawson ended the Blue Jay's threat on a ground out to Faidley, which gave Drake its first State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship game berth since 1997.
Drake remained perfect against the Blue Jays in Tournament play (4-0), although the Bulldogs were swept in the regular season by Creighton.
Drake will face the winner of the Illinois State/Missouri State game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Midwest.
