IOWA CITY -- The Drake women's golf team is in sixth place after shooting a team score of 311 during the first round of competition at the Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course Saturday.
The tournament was suspended due to darkness and the second round was not completed. Illinois led the 13-team tournament field by recording a 307 (+30) in the first round.
Drake junior
Michelle Mathwick (Greenfield, Wis.) was involved in a five-way tie for eighth place with a four-over-par 78.
Drake senior
Olivia Lansing (Dellwood, Minn.), who is the defending individual champion in the tournament, and senior
Kelly Godwin (Centerville, Minn.) were tied for 13th at 77.
Drake seniors
Elena Vukmir (Wauwatosa, Wis.) and
Chelsey Gannon (Eden Prairie, Minn.) were tied for 46th at 81, while senior
Amanda Vogt (Melbourne, Iowa) was tied for 72nd with an 89
The 32nd annual Hawkeye Invitational will resume Sunday morning at Finkbine Golf Course. Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 13 teams will finish up the remainder of the second round as well as the last 18 holes of the third round.
