TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Drake's seven-match winning streak came to an end on Saturday (April 11) as a short-handed Indiana State squad registered a 5-2 Missouri Valley Conference victory in women's tennis action.
The setback dropped the Bulldogs to 10-9 overall and 4-1 in the MVC, while the Sycamores improved their ledger to 7-9 on the year, including 5-1 in conference play.
With only four healthy players at its disposal, Indiana State entered the tilt surrendering two points to Drake before the first ball was served.
In doubles, the Sycamores posted decisions at the top two slots to cut the deficit to 2-1 entering singles competition.
Drake didn't have an answer for Indiana State in singles as the Sycamores claimed victories at the top four holes to claim the match.
Collecting default triumphs in singles were senior
Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) and freshman
Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.) at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions.
Drake closes out the road portion of its slate on Sunday (April 12) as the Bulldogs battle Illinois State in an 10:00 a.m. tilt.
