WICHITA, KAN. - The Drake softball team lost the third game
of the three-game Missouri Valley Conference Series at Wichita State, 3-2,
Sunday.
Sophomore Erin Bly
(Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East) hit her second home run in as many days to
give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
The Shockers answered with two runs in the bottom of the
fourth inning and one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
The Bulldogs scored one run in the sixth inning but fell
short in their rally. Junior Bridget Shields (Iowa City, Iowa/West) doubled to right field and scored on an
error by the shortstop.
Drake was held to four hits and stranded four runners while
the Shockers collected nine hits and left 10 runners on base.
Sophomore Jenna DeLong (Dalton Gardens,
Idaho/Coeur d'Alene) struck out six and allowed two earned runs in six innings.
The Bulldogs host in-state rival No. 24 Iowa, Wednesday (April 29) at 5 p.m.
