FAYETTEVILLE, ARK -
The Drake University softball team dropped a 5-0 contest to Arkansas that
stretched into the early hours of Sunday morning at the Razorback Invitational.
The Bulldogs finish their tournament slate Sunday with an 11 a.m. matchup with
Eastern Illinois.
Pitcher Jenna DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho) weathered a
rocky start against the Razorbacks, allowing four earned runs on seven hits
while walking five and striking out four. The loss put her record at 4-3
overall.
The Drake offense managed six hits, including two by
senior Elena Leon (West Des Moines, Iowa), who also added a walk to her
school-record career total of 82. The Bulldogs stranded runners in five innings
and were shut out for the first time since falling, 3-0, to No. 19 Southern
Illinois March 15, 2009.
The loss dropped Drake to 8-5 overall.
