EVANSVILLE, IND. - The
Drake University softball team
dropped a 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference decision to Evansville, Sunday
in the
finale of a three-game series with the Purple Aces.
The Bulldogs managed four hits on the afternoon,
including two by junior Molly McClelland
(West Des Moines, Iowa). Junior Erin
Mollohan (Tinley Park, Ill) and senior Bridget Shields
(Iowa City, Iowa) collected one each.
Evansville sophomore Amy Gaertner drove in both of the
Purple Aces' runs with a two-run double in the third inning. Gaertner
finished
the series 5-for-7 with a pair of game one homers, two runs scored and
four RBI.
Junior pitcher Jenna
DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho) took yet another hard luck loss after
allowing just two runs to cross the plate. DeLong tossed six innings and
allowed just four hits while striking out seven and walking five. Her
record
stands at 15-10 overall.
Drake moved to 30-18 overall and 11-11 in the MVC.
The Bulldogs host Kansas in a Wednesday doubleheader
starting at 4 p.m. at Buel Field.
