DES MOINES, IOWA - Junior
Sean O'Grady (Tempe, Ariz.) led the Drake men's tennis team
capturing the "C" single flight title in final day action at the Drake Fall
Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 19) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
O'Grady bested Daniel Pomeranc, 7-6, 7-6, to claim a crown
in his first tournament playing for the Bulldogs.
In the top singles' flight, senior Mauricio Ballivian (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) rallied to
post a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, triumph over junior Jonathan Hadash (Lapid, Israel) to reach the
championship match. The title tilt
versus sophomore James McKie (Edinburgh, England) was not contested.
In the "C" consolation bracket final, sophomore Mark Fouad (Cairo,
Egypt) suffered a 5-7, 6-4, 10-8, setback versus Jamie Dash of South Dakota
State.
The Bulldogs return to action at the Wildcat Invitational
(Oct. 14-17) in Evanston, Ill.
