DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake
head women's tennis coach Paul Thomson
has tabbed senior Amanda Aragon
(Fort Collins, Colo.) and juniors Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) and Ali Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) as team tri-captains for the 2011-12
campaign.
"Amanda (Aragon), Manca
(Krizman) and Ali (Patterson) each bring a different strength to the table in
the ability to help lead and guide this team," Thomson commented. "I am very proud of
these three as well as everyone on the team."
The Bulldogs turned in a solid fall
campaign in which Drake posted a 55-41 combined singles/doubles ledger,
including 44 singles triumphs.
"We had a terrific fall, and made some
great improvements," said Thomson. "Everyone is excited about the opportunities we have before
us this season."
Aragon registered 11 victories this past fall including a 7-2 record in
singles competition, highlighted by earning a singles title at the Northern
Iowa Fall Invitational.
Garnering All-Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention singles
recognition for the second time last spring was Krizman. She registered a 12-7 combined
singles/doubles record this fall, including winning a team-best eight singles
matches, with the last earning her the No. 2 singles title at the State Farm
MVC Individuals.
After battling injuries throughout most of her initial two campaigns at
Drake, Patterson added a 4-3 mark in singles play during the fall season.
The Bulldogs kick off their spring campaign facing Arkansas-Little Rock
on Jan. 20, 2012 in Norman, Okla.
