LAKEWOOD RANCH,
Fla. - The Drake
women's golf team opened its final tournament firing a 327 to stand 12th among
14 teams at the 35th annual Florida International University/Pat Bradley Invitational on
Sunday (Oct. 21) at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
"We got off to a
rough start as I don't think we were prepared to play this morning," Drake head
coach Leanne Smith
commented. "We had a couple of
kids battle back pretty well as Danielle (Brooks) and Hadley (Jennings) got it
going after a little bit and finished on a positive note."
Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) turned in the top-scoring effort for the
Bulldogs carding a 79 to enter the clubhouse tied for 35th.
Sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) was one stroke off Jennings' pace recording
an 80, to tie for 40th place, while senior Chelsey Falk
(Glenwood, Minn.) fired an 82 to sit tied for 53rd place.
Sophomore Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) registered scores of
86 and 92 to finish their rounds in 65th and 74th places, respectively.
"We just had too many
big holes to be competitive," said Smith.
"We're going to get some practice in this afternoon and hopefully we'll
come back with our games sharper in the morning."
Drake continues play
at the FIU/Pat Bradley Invitational on Monday (Oct. 22) starting at 8:30 a.m.
